In his opening remarks during the Impact Evaluation for Development Effectiveness on 10 November 2015, ADB Vice-President Bambang Susantono explained how impact evaluation improves the generation of lessons, particularly in project design.

“We need to do more on impact evaluation for three reasons: knowledge, innovation and quality of implementation,” said ADB’s Vice-President for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development.

“First, impact evaluation is essential to deriving knowledge from our operational work… Second, impact evaluation is key to innovation… Third, impact evaluation is important to implementation quality. Obviously, it improves accountability and lessons for project design.”
